Best bread pudding recipe?

I love bread pudding. I want to try and make it on my own. I would like some good recipies and details on the steps. I am new to cooking, I never really had to until now. I have a new favorite channel to watch it is the cooking channel.

OLD FASHIONED BREAD PUIDDING:
5 slices 3 day old bread
1 cup raisins (optional)
3 cups milk
1/3 cup sugar
pinch of salt
3 eggs,lightly beaten
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. sugar
Toast bread lightly,butter generously and break into 1/2 inch squares
Arrange in buttered 9×9 baking dish
Sprinkle with raisins
Scald the milk (heat to almost boiling) and stir in sugar and salt
Pour over eggs and blend thoroughly
Pour over bread and stir so bread is completely wet
Combine cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle over the top
Set baking dish in pan of hot water
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or till knife inserted in centre of the pudding comes out clean
Serve hot or cold.
Enjoy.It's really good.
Ingredients
2 cups Bread, cut up
1 quart Milk
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 cup Raisins
2 To 4 eggs
1/2 cup Sugar
2 tsp. Vanilla
Preparation
Mix all,except rasins, pour over bread in a buttered pan. Let set for a short time, add in raisins. Put pan in a larger pan with water.
put in oven and cook 350, for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Serve warm, room temp. or cold.
Top with cream if you choose

I also add other dried fruit cut up. Or cut up apples. Berries, or any fruit you like.
You may add a little liquor to the mix, to kick it up!
THE BEST BREAD PUDDING
7 or 8 slices of white bread–into 3/4" pieces
3 cups hot milk
2 beaten eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbs butter
1 1/2 tbs vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg [+ sprinkle over top when in pan]
1/4 tsp baking powder
Coat 8" X 12" casserole dish with butter. Pull bread into 3/4 " pieces & put aside. Combine remaining ingredients and mix well. Add the bread and mix well.
Add to casserole dish and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake in 350°F oven for 45 minutes.

Raisins or chopped pecans can be used in place of the dried cranberries, or try another chopped dried fruit.
INGREDIENTS:
8 ounces French bread, torn into small pieces, about 5 cups
2 cups half-and-half, or half milk and half cream
3 large eggs
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin puree
1 cup dried cranberries
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon vanilla
cinnamon sugar, optional
PREPARATION:
Butter an 11×7-inch baking dish. Heat oven to 350°.
In a bowl, cover the torn bread with the half-and-half; set aside.
In another bowl, combine eggs, sugars, pumpkin, cranberries, melted butter, spices, and vanilla; blend well.
Original New Orleans Bread Pudding
6 cups Stale Po Boy Bread or French Bread
2 t. almond extract
1 t. cinnamon
1 pinch ground cloves
2 cups heavy cream
6 eggs
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1/2 C. lightly toasted pecans
Spray a 3-4 quart baking dish with Pam. Break stale bread into 2 inch pieces and put in baking dish, sprinkle with pecans. Whisk all other ingredients in a bowl and pour over bread. Press bread down into the mixture with wooden spoon. Cover with plastic wrap and put in fridge overnight.
2 hours before serving, remove casserole from the fridge, uncover and bring to room temp. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, put pudding in center of oven and back until puffed and golden on top. Turn off oven, leaving pudding in, ***** door. Make hard sauce.
Hard sauce
1/4 lb. butter
8 oz. powdered sugar
6 oz. Really good bourbon whiskey or rum
Melt butter, whisk in sugar, then whiskey.
Spoon hard sauce over individual portions of bread pudding
or over the whole pudding before cutting it.
Note:
Stale croissants also will work great in this recipe.
Apple-Raisin Bread Pudding
Ingredients
4 eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons McCormick® Ground Allspice
1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Cinnamon
4 cups French or Italian bread cubes
1 large apple, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix eggs, milk, sugar, butter, allspice, vanilla and cinnamon in large bowl until well blended.
2. Stir in bread cubes, apple, raisins and walnuts. Spread evenly in greased 11×7-inch baking dish.
3. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
shane c = i have used this recipe and it was absolutely fantastic. the taste was great, it just made my mouth water.
for all those who are going to try this recipe make sure you follow it to the letter as i did and you cant go wrong.
