It's Snowing in New Orleans . . . and we're locked out of the house!

24

We woke up to snow flurries here in New Orleans!  This is NOT the usual weather for December in New Orleans, to say the least.

We bundled up the little one to get her first taste of snow and were hacing a great time.  Then I realized that I had locked all of the doors last night and we didn't have a key.  Fortunately, my husband had put on his jeans from the night before so he had his car keys (no house key on that ring, though!)  He started up the truck and the baby and I sat in it until he found an open window.  Whew!!

Then I bundled the baby up for pre-school and realized when I was halfway there that they were probably closed and turned around.  So, today will be a day of cartoons and hot soup with the little one.

It was the snow! It threw everything out of whack! Good thing your husband was able to find an open window. :-D

Not a good time to be locked out! But, it was a great morning! Although, once a year is enough for me.

I saw a story on the World News about snow in New Orleans. Such a rare occurrence that it must have been pretty fun. Sounds like a fun family day. I loved snow days as a kid!

Wow, snow in NO must be as rare as it is here in the Bay Area. Looks like a lot of fun.

My friend Twittered me about the snow. Hopefully, it will be over soon. Like here in San Francisco, we get it once in a blue moon.

I have locked myself out of the house a few times and now I keep a spare key hidden in the car. I have one of those Explorers with the keyless entry keypads on the door by the handle. I actually keep a spare car key hidden in it as well – just in case. I suppose if my car didn't have the keypad, I'd probably hide a key somewhere near the house or in the garage.

One of my best friends moved to LA from PA to get away from the cold and snow…she was not happy about waking up to 8 inches, but her two boys sure had a blast playing in the snow and building a snowman! ;)

Wow, can't believe snow came that far south! Incredible!

Perhaps the most interesting part of the post: That photo showing one of the St. Charles Avenue streetcars shrouded in snow.

That snow was amazing wasn't it? I've never seen it snow so hard down here before! It would have sucked to have gotten locked out of the house though… I'm sorry that happened to you guys! I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless!

I'm sure people probably go crazy do there whenever there is just a little bit of snow. Up here in Illinois we are used to the bad weather and the tons of snow that comes with it. I hope you were able to get back in your house ok.

I love snow days with the children when the schools are closed, so nice and cosy to be able to snuggle up with blankets on the sofa and watch tv.
