I was in Gretna years ago when I was travelling for my trade doing shows. Wish this was going on when I was there.

Muffalettas got my attention. Anyone who hasn't had a good muffaletts doesn't know what they're missing!

Here's an idea I like for making quick muffaletta appetizers…

Loaf of french bread
GOOD Olive salad
Thinly sliced Genoa Salami
Sliced Provolone Cheese
Olive Oil

Slice the french bread into about 1/4 thick slices, brush with olive oil, and arrange on a nonstick cookie sheet.

Top each slice of bread with a slice of Genoa Salami, then the olive salad, finally a slice of Provolone Cheese. Pop them in a 325-350 degree oven until hot.

If you'd like it a bit crispier, before topping the bread, toast it in the oven slightly first.

Fast, easy, and quite tasty.

@CrankyDave:

Your muffaletta appetizer recipe sounds delicious!

CrankyDave @ 4:28 pm

Thank you Louise. :)

It's very easy, quick, and tasty. It's great for ballgames. I started off our New Years Eve party last year with the muffaleta appetisers, then shrimp cocktails.

I'm a big fan of quick/easy and tasty. Noone really wants to be "glued" to the kitchen when having friends over or a party. I have to admit though, "the cook always eats last" definitely fits me to a tee but I don't have to miss my own party cooking. I'm getting a wee bit better. :)
