We are in the peak of crawfish season. Lusher Charter School will turn its Fortier campus into a festival ground on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for its 25th Annual Crawfish Boil. Activities include games, live music, a cake walk, food, art and plant sales. The event is the PTSA's biggest annual fundraiser. While you in the area, head over to the free Freret Street Festival, HomeOwnership Fair and Kids' Fest, which runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the corner of Freret Street and Napoleon Avenue. The festival features more than 100 arts, crafts, flea market and food vendors.
Admission to the crawfish boil is $1 and can be purchased in advance at Lusher Fortier Campus, which is at 5624 Freret St. at the corner of Nashville Avenue, or at the gates on Saturday. For information, visit www.lusherschool.org or call (504) 304-3960. For information on the Freret Street Festival, call (504) 894-8580 or visit www.freretstreet.com.
