New Orleans Restaurant King Al Copeland Dies
Al Copeland, the founder of Popeye's Fried Chicken, Copeland's, and several other New Orleans restaurants, died on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, outside of Munich, Germany of complications from treatment of Merkel Cell Carcinoma, an extremely rare and aggressive cancer. Mr. Copeland was well-known throughout New Orleans for his fast race cars, extravagant Christmas lights, and multiple marriages.
